Joslin Consulting provides LEED™ Management, which ensures the sustainable design of commercial construction projects. LEED™ stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and was created by the U.S. Department of Energy to provide a green building system rating.
Green building is defined not only by what materials are used in the construction of a building but also by how “green” it is throughout its lifecycle. In order to build green, everything from siting to future energy efficiency is taken into account. Building green is a focus on the sustainability of building as a whole, which is why its often defined as “Sustainable Design.” Along with efficiency and conservation, to be considered sustainable a building’s design must focus on the health of its occupants by reducing human exposure to pollutants.
- Work through the many options and evaluations of what makes the most sense for your project
- Find the best parties to provide the right services
As soon as the decision is made to embrace the sustainable design and green building approach, the best possible project team should be assembled. Even if LEED™ Certification is not required, the strategies, materials and processes remain the same, and consultants, architects, and engineers with special expertise are imperative.
- Manages the charrettes and design meetings
- Identifies clear responsibility for the many design activities Enforces the critical path design schedule
- Maintains momentum toward the desired completion dates
If LEED™ Certification is the goal, a good LEED™ Manager benefits different teams in different ways but is essential to the process.
- Provide sample plans for satisfying various requirements
- Use custom tracking tools and submittal forms designed specifically for LEED™
- Advise the eventual contractor participants with new priorities and requirements
- Choose the appropriate methods to achieve a successful submission
U.S. Green Building Council: LEED

The Green Globes system is an interactive tool for environmental design and management, delivering recognition of a building’s greenness through third-party verification.
The Green Guide for Health Care helps the leaders and managers of health care institutions promote the health of patients, employees and visitors, while operating economically and efficiently.
The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) launched the Green Star program in 2003 to establish a comprehensive rating system for environmental design and construction.
Energy Star was created jointly by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy to help save money on residential and commercial building projects while protecting the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
